Dating violence occurs when a boyfriend/girlfriend or date uses physical or sexual force to threaten his/her date. Violence in teen dating relationships is increasing at an alarming rate. Four out of ten sexual assaults in Alabama happen to girls under the age of 18 and half of those happen during a date. 75% of all sexual assaults involve drugs or alcohol.
Some teenagers may date the person who abuses them, or live with them, and even marry them. If someone you know is involves in an abusive relationship, please encourage them to get help.
