Success: One Child at a Time

This past school year, the Lighthouse Prevention Education Program was fortunate to have had the opportunity to provide Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention to children of Empowering Communities Helping Ourselves and the Goode Street Community Center. Through funding from the Children’s Trust Fund, we were able to provide over 120 students ages 5-14 with the necessary skills to recognize the signs of child abuse while empowering them to use their voice in preventing these horrific acts.

On May 9, 2008, we provided an informal graduation for the children of E.C.H.O. The children were provided certificates of completion along with other awards for their diligence and commitment to the program. When speaking with Mrs. Ayeida Harris, Director of E.C.H.O., she stated, “this will probably be the only time that some of these kids will walk across a stage and receive this type of recognition; this program has truly been a blessing to these children.”

We would like to thank the Children’s Trust Fund along with E.C.H.O and Goode Street Community Center for allowing us the opportunity to play such a pivotal role in the lives of our young people.
